Braider of Words

A young bard, cursed never to settle.

A love of a lifetime.

Good stories and faithful companions ...

A Celtic historical novel taking you to times where words could be weapons and your only friends a wolfhound and a raven.

MOON OF BEGINNINGS - Prequel

Young, cursed and on her own

Gaul, 47 BC. Her own master has laid a gruesome commandment on the young bard Arduinna: only through her constant wanderings can she protect the man she loves.

From now on she has to rely on herself and depend on her own skills – meager as they might be apart from her power with words.

How shall she be able to survive in this world where a clan means safety and nature is unpredictable?

MOON OF CHIEFTAINS - Book 1

A wandering bard. An ambitious ruler. A life in danger.

Noricum, 38 BC. Nine years ago the young bard Arduinna was cursed by her master. Since then every half moon she has to wander on to protect the man of her heart. On her own, in a time when a clan means safety, she relies on her wolfhound, her raven and her power of words.

An injury to her faithful companion forces her to stay in the fortified city of the Noric ruler Voccio, who strives to unite the Celtic tribes north of the Alps under his leadership to oppose the Romans.
Arduinna's ability to use words like arrows makes her a pawn in his battle for power. The half moon is passing quickly - and suddenly it becomes a matter of life and death.

MOON OF BETRAYAL - Book 2

Hope, lies, and something like a friend.

Noricum, 38 BC. Never staying in one place longer than half a moon to protect the man she loves, the bard Arduinna reaches Solva, a market under Roman influence.

Even though she fears the Romans, she decides to stay here with her two companions – a wolfhound and a raven. For there are a prostitute and a Northman that might have to do with Arduinna's future and strange dreams that bewilder her. And above all Arduinna meets a druid who might be able to help her decipher the signs she keeps collecting on her wanderings.

But she also finds out that somebody is searching for her ...

MOON OF THE BRIDE - Book 3

A young bride. An old man. And the danger of war.

Noricum, 38 BC. The Bard Arduinna still wanders from place to place with her wolfhound and her raven to protect the man of her heart. She meets a troop of warriors who take her to the wedding of their leader to the ruler's daughter of a defeated tribe. The situation there reminds Arduinna very much of her own past and it is up to her to prevent a repetition of events - if it is not too late.
But hope for her own future also flares up, because one of the warriors has met the man for whom she has been enduring the curse for nine years.

MOON OF SOLSTICE - Book 4

When falling might kill you - or help you rise.

Noricum, 38 BC. A fall into an icy river robs Arduinna of her meagre possessions. It could be her death were it not for her faithful wolfhound and her raven - and a brother and sister who happen to be passing by.
But the mercy of the gods does not seem to last too long - surprising events plunge Arduinna into a maelstrom of doubt. Nothing that seemed certain until now holds true any more. Have the gods abandoned her?

MOON OF THE BEARCHILD - Book 5

When waiting is your only chance, hope can ruin you.

Noricum, 37 BC. For nine years, the bard Arduinna has been wandering the world, forced by a cruel commandment. But what about the man who, like her, longs for the end of this curse?
Volume 5 of the Celtic novel series “Braider of Words” is dedicated to Loïc, whose life depends on Arduinna's constant wandering. Not an easy fate to bear for a warrior and ruler's son.

MOON OF HOPE - Book 6

A deadline, a goal and many ways to err

Gaul, 37 BC. For nine years, the bard Arduinna has been wandering the world with her wolfhound and her raven, following the command of her master. Now the ninth anniversary is approaching and both Arduinna and Loïc sense that on that day they must be in the place where it all began. Will they make it to Vesontio in time?
And why are there more and more reports of dead bards?

MOON OF ENDINGS - Book 7

When the ending seems near, the Gods will find ways ...

For nine years, Arduinna the Bard has been wandering the world with her wolfhound and her raven, following the command of her master. Her small clan has grown, but so have the difficulties. At last, the signs indicate that her journey is coming to an end. But will she manage to lift the curse for good? Will she have to face her master or can she escape that danger?
